Movie about to release, new attention is being focused on the 1993 live-action Super Mario adaptation, which starred Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as a plunger-wielding Mario and Luigi. Notorious for flopping at the box office, Super Mario Bros. 1993 was lambasted by critics for failing to capture the spirit of the games, and for squandering interesting production design and effects on a badly-written story.
